			<title>Can I help distribute the magazine?</title>
			<link>http://www.bartontoday.org/about-us/can-i-help-distribute-the-magazine.html</link>
			<description>
We'd love you to - the more the merrier!  There are now nearly thirty folk helping us to deliver around the village but we can always do with more.
We aim to deliver the magazine before the last weekend of each month and we will generally get your copies to you on the Tuesday of that week, or earlier if it’s possible.  This gives you three days to choose your time to deliver and to fit around your own personal commitments.
We say three days because we have found that by Thursday, people in the village have spoken to each other and begin to telephone your poor old Editor to demand ‘Why Barton Today hasn’t been delivered yet’ – such is fame!
Sometimes we have to insert leaflets into your copies and that may take us some time.  We’ll always let you know if there are any problems, although so far, thankfully, we have had none.
If at any time a particular delivery clashes with another commitment or if you become ill, just contact us and we’ll arrange cover for you until you are back on your feet.
Basically, we're here to help you and to make delivery fun, not a chore.
As a distributor, you are an important link in the chain.  We may produce the magazine, but without you nobody would be able to read it!

			<title>FAQ: WHAT IS BARTON TODAY?</title>
			<link>http://www.bartontoday.org/about-us/faq-what-is-barton-today.html</link>
			<description>OUR MISSION
                             STATEMENT

i) To bring together everyone in our village in peace and harmony;
ii) To celebrate the diversity of the human spirit by encouraging and developing local talent,
iii) To promote communication between all people
and
iv) To offer a platform for the dissemination of information and ideas.’

'Barton Today is a community magazine with over 6,000 readers. Delivered FREE every single month to every home in the village, we are non-profit-making; all surpluses go back into your magazine. The Editor, his family, friends and associates do not take a single penny in income from the enterprise, all work is given freely.  We are not controlled by, or affiliated to, any political, religious, social or commercial group.'

YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! You've read it all before, but just consider what that means:
Every single month we put together a 48 page, often a 52 page magazine full of news, features, cartoons and articles.
Pages are in colour as well as black and white.
Folk send in contributions.  These have to be typed up, laid out, collated and compiled.
A theme for the magazine has to be devised and our reporters have to visit local groups and events.
We need to meet a printer's deadline and then distribute counted copies, often with inserts, to our deliverers.
All of this is done by unpaid volunteers without any formal hierarchical structure imposed on them (our Editor has suffered before under 'committees' and believes that people who do their own thing are far more creative than those who simply obey orders).
We have no big corporation or religious organisation to fall back on, so we rely on advertisers who support us, not out of duty, but because they know that advertising with Barton Today works effectively for them.  That means that a lot of our time is also spent dealing with businesses and setting out adverts as well as articles.
It's not easy, but it's fun!  We have a great and ever-expanding team who laugh a lot.  And we've not done too badly - we've received  THREE  awards in the first three years (two in the first six months) and a website that attracts around 10,000 visitors a month.
And we haven't really started yet...

                                                                                                          Care to Join us?

			<title>When is the Deadline for Articles and Advertisements?</title>
			<link>http://www.bartontoday.org/about-us/when-is-the-deadline-for-articles-and-advertisements.html</link>
			<description>Space permitting, we try to print everything sent in to us, but our deadline is always the tenth of the month. After that date we're flexible but we can't guarantee publication - best to get it to us before the tenth if you can.
When we say the tenth of the month, we mean that we need items before the tenth for the issue that appears the following month i.e. March 10 for the April issue and so on.  This means that you may have to prepare and think some time in advance if you want us to cover a particular event ...

Please include your name, address and phone number as we just can't publish anonymous articles and may need to contact you for more information. If you don't want your name published let us know.
Articles may well be shortened if space is limited.

The magazine is generally delivered in the last week of the month.  If you know of anyone who has not received a copy by the first of the month, please let us know and we'll rush one  to them straight away.
